WHAT ARE PODCASTS?

from Wikipedia

Podcasting is the distribution of audio or video files, such as radio programs or music videos, over the Internet using either RSS or Atom syndication for listening on mobile devices and personal computers.

Podcasts are readily available to download on web sites and from music stores such as iTunes. Podcast are similar to radio shows that can be downloaded and listen to on your MP3 Player or computer at your convenience.
You can find podcasts on any imaginable subject: Entertainment, education, news, business, etc. Podcasts can be a great asset to getting and staying informed about a specific subject, listen and study while on the go, and help the auditory learner.
Be aware though that since they are easily and freely available your child might download and listen to inappropriate materials as well (on purpose or by mistake). In iTunes these podcasts are usually labeled with "explicit" icon (language or content).
That is not a foolproof solution though. You might want to pre-view and pre-listen to podcasts your child would want to download.

In iTunes go to Edit > Preferences> Parental Controls to "Restrict Explicit Content"
