Hi again! On Tuesday 26th of January, we celebrate Australia Day. This day commemorates the anniversary of European settlement in Australia. The First Fleet landed in Sydney in 1788.
Most Australians have a day off for a public holiday and have a barbeque with family and friends. Many people receive their Australian citizenship on Australia Day. There will be fireworks in the evening.
Have you been watching the Australian Open tennis? It is held in my home town, Melbourne. My Mum and her family have been quite few times over the years. Here is a picture of Lleyton Hewitt, who is an Australian tennis player.
Last week, Prince William, the eldest son on Prince Charles and second in line to the British throne visited the area near my house. Last year there were some very bad bushfires and Prince William came to see how everyone was getting along with rebuilding homes and schools. He was very popular!
I hope you and your teddies are all well.

This is very interesting. When people are born in Austrailia do they have to wait to become a “citizen”?
Everyone born in Australia is automatically an Australian citizen. If you were born overseas (like me) you can apply for citizenship. Many citizenship ceremonies occur on Australia Day.
