Off to Peru

The Pacific Ocean told us to continue our quest for the crystal skull and head to the country of Peru.

We are boarding an airplane in the morning and are leaving Costa Rica in Central America. We are heading to Peru. Before we land in Lima, we will have one layover stop in Quito. Do you know which country this city is the capital of? If you are tracking our trip, the coordinates of Quito are: .25 South, 78.6 West. Just by looking at the latitude, it should give you a hint what the name of the country.

We will be landing Lima, which is the capital of Peru.  The coordinates for Lima are 12.0 South and 77.0 West.

Thank you for the amazing desriptions and photos of Costa Rica! We feel like we’ve been on tour with you! My family eats a lot of black beans and rice too! My husband’s family is from Cuba and many nations in Latin America eat this dish as well. Muy delicioso…:)

Have a great flight! We’ll see you in Peru….I was just watching a brief documentary about Machu Pichu on T.V. tonight….looking forward to traveling there, through you….Miss you both!

We looked at the map, and right away noticed that Quito is very close to the EQUATOR, which of course means that it is the capital of the country “Equador”, si? We just saw the crocodile video this morning, and all we had to say was, “WOW” !! My students enjoyed listening to Mrs. Tolisano’s expression of concern when the big croc. suddenly blasted out of the water and swam quickly away from Jose the bear! They played the video again and again!

Oops! We were so excited that I spelled the country wrong! It is Ecuador! Wouldn’t you know the English teacher would get that wrong!

We all agree in Pre K that the capital of Peru is Ecuador! Are we right?

We meant to say that the country is Ecuador not the capital of Peru….duhhh we weren’t paying attention ….remember we are only in Pre K and just learning to read and working on our map skills too.

We are so excited that you will be stopping in Ecaudor, even though you won’t be there long. Please take any pictures you can and we can’t wait to see what you did in Quito!

Mrs. McKnight’s class and Mrs. E’s class,

Good Job! You are correct that Quito is the capital of Ecuador.

    Mrs. Edward’s class,

Unfortunately our plans were changed at the last minute. We were able to get a direct flight to Lima and avoid a five hour layover in Quito. We immediately jumped at the opportunity. Sorry, we will not have any pictures for your class of Quito.

    Dear Jose,
We used Google Earth to search on Quito. We found out that it is the capital of Ecuador!

    Love,

    Mrs. Balek’s class,

Good work in using Google Earth. You are correct. You have been such a big help on my journey. Keep at it. I still need your help finding Pachamama.
